New to the portal? A 2-minute guide

1. Signing in

Use the email and password DDT gave you. Once in, the menu at the top takes you everywhere. You only ever see your own organisation’s information.

2. Logging an activity (the main job!)

Go to Activities → Log an activity. Give it a name, the date, how many people came, and tick which CiviAct outcomes it counts towards. Attach evidence — photos, registers, reports. A couple of minutes after each session is all it takes, and your monitoring returns largely write themselves.

3. Telling your story

Our storyis your organisation’s journey through CiviAct — milestones, wins, photos. Tick “show on the public website” and the entry appears on your page at civiact.org.uk for the world to see. Only publish photos you have permission to share.

4. Speak instead of typing

The big text boxes have a 🎤 Dictate button — tap it, talk naturally, and your words appear in the box. Tap again to stop. (Works in Chrome, Edge and Safari; allow microphone access when asked.) Then press ✨ Polish to tidy your spoken words into clear writing — you review the result and can undo it before anything is saved or published.

5. Monitoring returns & budgets

When DDT opens a reporting period, write your narrative under Monitoring returns — your logged activities for the period are listed right below the box to jog your memory. Save drafts as often as you like, then submit. Budgets shows your allocation; record spending as you go.

6. Made a mistake?

You can’t delete things yourself — press Request deletionon the item, say why, and DDT will sort it. This keeps the project’s evidence trail safe.
